We arrived at our campsite to find it was on the side of a hill and I suggested we should have a pitch near the beach some 200 vertical feet below the entrance. The trip up and down was hairy to say the least…… but here’s our view.
We decided to cycle into Llanes some 15 km away to be told that on our bikes we probably wouldn’t make it on the cycle path !!! So off we went on the local roads……
Llanes is an active fishing port and part of its town wall dates back to 1206.
The port now seems to be more focussed on the leisure industry from the boats we saw
The old town hall is now a casino
We arrived at late lunchtime to find everyone at lunch in the squares
The numbers of people seemed to have been boosted by a local car rally which appeared to have finished in the town today and was won by the Champion of the Asturias Rally.
We had planned a champagne picnic on the beach but this sailor must be getting water-logged as the tide is now crashing against the rocks !! See above and below
Off to Santander tomorrow for 48 hours before we catch the ferry back.
