We cycled down the towpath of the canals to get to the centre of Ghent.
We don’t think we have ever been anywhere where there were so many churches in such a small area, less than 100 yards.
The first picture was the Belfry followed by St Nicholas and St Bavos Cathedral ( couldn’t get a decent picture of that one)
Then within 5 minutes walk of each other there were two castles – the Castle of Gerald the Devil and the Castle of the Counts.
Sightseeing was cut short for a swim as temperatures rose above 90F.
A very pretty town and a surprise to what we expected to see. Worth a day trip.
A beautiful town. Stay cool…we’re reading about your unusual heatwave.
