We headed west and saw Passau some 10 miles from where we stayed. Parts of the town of 50,000 looked lovely
The rest was utilitarian and was a stopping point for the cruise boats.
We arrived in Wurzburg and have a pitch 6m from the River Maine – 330 miles long and joined to the Danube by a 106 mile canal. It too has lots of cruise boats.
We cycled into Wurzburg to get a flavour of the town before our sight seeing trip tomorrow. First impressions was of a magnificent fort on a hill as we cycled into the town, crossed over the river on a 470 year old bridge although rebuilt after the war.
From the bridge we also saw the cathedral and the treasury building
Also the Rathaus or the town hall.
It’s gin time so you will have to wait for the next instalment.
