Day 20 Salzburg

We had a great evening in the Fortress with a very pleasant dinner followed by a recital by a string quartet playing Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn and a rousing finale of 2 Strauss waltzs.

Today we went back into Salzburg to see the wonderful Mirabell Palace in the centre of town with their beautiful Marble Hall ( used for concerts) and then the amazing gardens.

Playing in the gardens was a military band who attracted a large crowd appreciating the traditional Austrian band music.

Also in the gardens was Europe’s oldest dwarf garden dating back to 1695.

Lesley of course had to try her luck by rubbing a dwarf’s stomach hoping it would turn her prince(me) into a frog – no luck he he.

Finally our first 20mph cycling selfie.

After 3 days in Salzburg Lesley has failed to get me to participate in a Sound of Music tour……..

Off to Vienna tomorrow.
