A transit day. We left Valle Sagrado at 9.30 this morning and arrived this evening at 6pm. The hotel is fairly funky with lots of arched ceilings and thick block stone walls. Here is a picture of the lounge area
We went out for a short walk to the Plaza des Armas or more appropriately the Plaza Mayor. On one side was the Basilica Cathedral of Arequipa which was closed
Just off the square was another church called the Church of the Company which was open . The alter piece is carved wood covered in gold leaf and was completed in 1698.
Off on our travels again tomorrow, some 3 hours away, to see more great scenery.
