Spain Day 24 – San Sebastian

We returned to see more of this lovely city. Our first port of call was the Funicular on the south west side of the bay. It was built in 1912 and travels a length of 320 metres up to the top of Monte Igueldo. The view across the bay speaks for itself

Also on the same headland is the lighthouse which was built in 1855.

On the way down one can see the Royal Palace, built in 1892, which has been their historical summer residence although now used for summer university courses. The royal family now have a Palace in Majorca.

The Nave of Santa Maria sits in the old town and can be seen down a kilometre long street from the Cathedral. It was built in 1774 some 120 years before the Cathedral and we can see some of the exterior the alter and a side chapel.

Tomorrow we are off to Bilbao for a few days and are looking forward to seeing the Guggenheim Museum.
