Spain Day 22 – Pamplona

Just another picture during our cycle to Pamplona this morning.

We arrived in Pamplona by the Plaza de Toros a magnificent stadium to show off the skills of the Toreador. The famous bull run in July goes through the streets of Pamplona and the not so sober men get to run in front of the herd.

Next on our day was the Plaza Castillo, the main square of the town which at the time had a market in the middle which didn’t help for good photos.

From there we went to the Cathedral (Santa Maria la Real) a famous landmark in Pamplona, which was built in the 15th century.

There was a very impressive memorial to the union of Navarre to Castile in 1903 and their obedience to the Queen.

The city has numerous fountains but thought we would only include one off the Av Carlos 111.

Pamplona was a medieval walled town with a Citadel but little is left of the old walls and where they are to be found have been substantially refurbished.

Off to San Sebastián tomorrow to start our stay in the Basque region.
