Spain Day 16 – Barcelona

We took the train to Barcelona. Return ticket was €2.60 pp for a 30 minute journey and the trains were full on a Sunday running every 15 minutes. British Rail has a lot to learn.

The train station was in the middle of Barcelona at Plaza Catalunya which is the square at one end of Las Ramblas.

We had a lovely walk down Las Ramblas to Plaza Colon in front of the port

Colon ( Christopher Columbus) was a great navigator and sailor who came back from his first trip to the ‘New World’ to report to Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand V even though he was a Genoese.

To one side of the port is the amazing Customs House building

Finally no day sightseeing would be complete without Churros con Chocolate

A day off tomorrow and then back to Barcelona on Tuesday
