Day 25 Vienna Opera and Obernzell( German Austrian border)

Last night at the Opera House was fantastic and definitely a bucket list evening.

The building was more amazing inside than it is outside. It was built in 1868 and reminded one of La Scala in Milan – compact with many small boxes to the sides and the ‘people’s cheap seats high up in the gods. Seating capacity was just over 1700.

The Opera Othello based on the Shakespearean play was very well done and the second half with the final death scene was amazing. It would have been hard to follow the story but we all given mini iPads which gave a translation of the singing in 16 languages.

Today we started our journey back travelling to the North of Salzburg to a town near Passau called Obernzell. A beautiful little town on the banks of the Danube and we are on a site some 40 yards away from the river.

The road here was beautiful with wonderful farming countryside amongst the hills

We are only here in Obernzell for one night but here is a taste of the town

Tomorrow we are travelling to the Bavarian town of Wurzburg known for its lavish Baroque and Rococo architecture.
