Day 8 Geneva

A lovely start to the day with a train journey from Lausanne to Geneva.

What is Geneva known for?

Chocolate, jet d’ eat (huge fountain), United Nations, Lake Geneva, Parc Anglais, Parc Bastions and more

As expected we saw the lot !!

No pictures of the chocolate as Lesley ate it !

The hair outside the United Nations building symbolises fragility and strength, precariousness and stability, brutality and dignity and was originally conceived to urge nations to ban anti personnel mines

We went to the Parc Bastions and saw the Wall of the Reformation with such characters as William Farel, John Calvin, John Knox. Also there was a statue of Oliver Cromwell a great reformationist ! The wall is over 100 years old and celebrated the 400 year both of Calvin.

Lake Geneva is over 73 kilometres long and has the amazing backdrop of the French/ Swiss Alps

The Grand Theatre is a wonderful building and the Opera house of Geneva

Their is so much more to see but today’s blog is long enough. A great city which we loved and so worth a visit.
